The Seventh Station is where Jesus fell for the second time. According to tradition, it is close to the place assumed to be the "Judgment Gate," through which Jesus passed beyond the city walls. The gate is called so because it is where the Roman authorities used to publicly announce the charge and verdict of the accused. Jesus carried a sign mockingly composed by Pilate, which read: "JESUS OF NAZARETH KING OF THE JEWS."
